Missing info

  • 1. Building requirements for units in the research pane

    2. When looking at players stats, I can't find anywhere how many maps someone played. This is rather important to be able to assess whether a player is a threat or not. Like i.e. the ranking in s1914 & CoW doesn't mean much, because lots of players attained a high rank w/o ever having played a map well enough to win, but played a ton of bad maps.

-> The number of maps joined and victories are in the player stats, just not that very conveniently placed. At a 1st look I would want to see who I am up against or who wants to join forces

    => most important info = k/d, maps joined & maps won/lost.

    3. Spies... there are no spies!

    4. Maybe I am missing it, but I just don't see what the empty (non-resource) provinces produce. They are populated and they produce conscripts; but do they have a tax output etc?

-> Answered below: no tax output

    5. Where is displayed whether an army has fortress protection? Or is fortress protection for the whole province now?

  • There is a way to see what the player has done in both supremacy1914 and supremacy1. In fact, they are the same.

1st. go to the player's country

    2nd, click on info

3ed, click on the person icon at the top right of the screen, it will say service record

After you have clicked on it, it will take you back to the home screen with most of the player's information.

  • j10211647 : Thanks for making me look again; indeed it is there; I found it. The UI is just sooo long that I never saw the small square where they hid the info :)

Btw, I will keep adding things I miss to the top post.

Pls add whatever you feel is missing

  • There are spies in the game, you just have to research and build them. The spies in the game range from level 1 to level 3. Level 1 is very weak, but level 3 has 300 hit points. All the spies in the game are stealthed units that can only be seen by scout units. I think you get the spies on day 3 or 4.

As for the empty (non-resource) provinces that you cannot see the tax output, I have no idea. Maybe they do not produce tax because they have Victory Points. I do not know, but it is a great question that I did not even think of.

  • I meant spies as we have in CoW. The spies we have here do not reveal any real spy-info like communications, all troop positions etc. You know, the Mata Hari kind of spy. Not a stealth reconnaissance unit. But then again, this is a different game. Trying to adjust, but still miss my spies.

  • Oh, that makes since, sorry. I would have to agree that not having those kind of spies makes the game different, and less about strategy and more about charging into the enemy.

  • Okay, I have looked into whither the empty (non-resource) provinces produce a tax output in the map "The Great War", and...

They do not. I looked at the tax output of every province but the empty and added them up, and I got the same amount the top of the screen says I am producing. You would think that the cities would have a greater tax output, but they do not have anything.

Indeed. More a tactical and logistical game, than the real strategy I loved in s1914 and CoW.

That is really weird. Playing the Netherlands, both Amsterdam and Rotterdam are empty and thus not producing a thing nor taxes... That added to Maastricht being depicted as Belgian... Injury upon insult!

  • I might be able to share some insights on those "empty" provinces....

Urban provinces being "empty" has game design related reasons. Although you can make the argument that there is a big amount of citizens living in these provinces, hence they should produce a decent ammount of tax revenue. However, the urban provinces are located at strategic points on the maps and are connected with the road system. Wich make them quite valueble already, as you can produce troops here and move them very fast to whereever you need them. On top of that they are the provinces that give Victory Points. In order to balance out the high value of these provinces it was decided to have them not produce anything.

  • @Arcorian:

First of all thanks for sharing that.

Indeed I used the empty Amsterdam and Rotterdam cities to build barracks and factories, so their construction does not delay productive constructions.

Nevertheless it simply feels strange that there is nothing there in these important places.

Maybe it is an idea to start out with a barrack lvl1 or a factory lvl 1 in such places? It would certainly look and feel better and more natural.

  • Added question:

    5. Where is displayed whether an army has fortress protection? Or is fortress protection for the whole province now?

It matters, since in CoW and s1914, one could place multiple separate armies under fortress protection, because the fortress had 'cover range' going slightly out of the province centre.
