Killer Convoys

  • Many variables in S1914, the 9 inf units even at 1/3rd strength while at sea have 3 hit points and your cruisers depending on condition only have 2 hit points each... also the inf units would get a morale boost after defeating first cruiser... unless you sat and observed it all play out, no one will now be able to tell you why...

Speculation can say, there could have been an invisible opponent Sub with 4 hit points in middle of the fight, or maybe there were planes or a rail gun in the equation if this skirmish took place near a coast... also opponent might have boosted inf morale with GOLD just prior to fighting your cruisers or in between killing the 1st and 2nd cruiser.

Again, many variables that your scenario does not describe, and we have no screen shot to look at... when fighting I can tell you that in my experience HIT POINTS are most important thing to monitor. You can click on any unit and the (i) info about that unit to decipher the hit points.

  • this is Sone, not S1914

Level 1 cruisers have 55 hitpoints.

Conscripts have ZERO offense/defense against ships. The OP said nothing about 'inf'.

What the OP describes is a major flaw in the battle mechanics,

which I have observed on several occasions.

  • Sorry, I had no idea this issue was about was Supremacy 1 rather than S1914

I have no clue about nuances of Supremacy 1, I was talking about S1914,

Having both games in same FORUM continues to confuse me...

  • In Call of War (CoW) when the went to the similar design changes, there called CoW 1.5 there was a phase where convoys were invincible and were taking down substantial fleets ! Probably the same algorithmic bug.

  • I agree wholeheartedly other than the bugs this game is pretty well balanced except for the naval warfare in no way should troop transports be able to take out a light cruiser or battleship

  • they are slower then your naval units so practically if you're around you shouldn't lose agaisnt them you can bombard, move, bombard, move. If it does get caught and loses it's basiccally been overrun by hundreds of infantry transport vehicules. (1infantry = 1000 units) which makes it rather realistic you might outrange them, but if they're with to many they can catch you.

Even a pack of rats can bring down a magnificent Lion if there's enough of them.

No, I disagree. Transport ships have very little in the way of armor or weapons. Also, slower. Any cruiser should have a field day against them. Programmers are taking the easy route and simply assigning combat power to units regardless of reality. IF you move transports and you don't want them sunk, you should have to also assign combat vessels to escort. This part oft he game is too simplistic and unrealistic.

Okay, so let me understand this correctly, you feel men on transports should not be able to sink a LC but you have no problem with a LC traveling at 67 KMH in WW I?

they are slower... as long as you give the command not to be sitting ducks you can flee ... As such if they do reach you you're just simply overrun you need thousands of man to sink one but if you send them and you get surrounded you're even irl death, just that irl you wouldn't try as that is a way to heavy cost of men and if they flee you stand no chance then certain death
