it be nice if one could surrender , only after the capital has been occupied . with a moral penalty to remaining states and armies . thoughts ?
Surrender

its an interesting idea, however i think it would be a bit more complicated, its not just stopping a war with debuffs to the surrendering player, but it goes into more of what happens. It could go into more complicated topics, such as a moral boost when winning against the past enemy a player has surrendered too. Really i think it should change some aspects of moral, cause lets be honest, if someone loses too many provinces or army, then there would be a moral debuff since logically it makes sense and could speed up as well as make there a higher amount of interests to battles by both the players and spectators. Also i get the whole moral design however i think it would be fun if the devs added a moral changes to some logical situations such as losing tons of land, or even a successful defense at an capital.

But what is it that currently precludes you from proclaiming your surrender to your enemy by just using actual words?
-
an actual surrender option would only allow a coalition or a individual leader to claim lands. at the moment anyone can swoop in and steal land without war being declared , even if verbal agreements were made.

Pretty much they are words, meaning they hold very little value in game. Yes u can have surrenders, but it comes with a lot more then that, u cant claim land, resources, or more. It would be helpful if an option was set in to which if u surrendered a tab would appear for the victor to see what they get and then the surrendered opponent gets to heckle until both reach an agreement, thou i think it would also use victory points, thou i can specify and explain if u guys want.

You can claim whatever you want with just words. There's just no easy guarantee you will get it and you might have to be in a position to actually enforce the conditions of someone's surrender, thus adding a little more to your words than just words. That's how it works. Anything's possible with words but you have to make it so.

Diplomatic relations is what is offered... jat
-
Boogle, taht would only happen in RPs
-
losing your capital already gives you a huge moral drop and a moral increase for the one taking your capital besides 1/2 of your money in that game
Im sure a surrender botton could be made yet it would mostlikely be abused fast by multiplayers so its unlikely it will be added
-
Surrender already exists, it's called setting your diplomacy status to peace/truce and hoping whoever you are at war with does the same.
-
AI doesn't listen tho

You wanna surrender to AI?
-
No. I'm just mentioning a flaw in the feature if it were to exist.
-
AI is easy to beat even if it's ten times your country's size
-
Elite ai does conduct diplomacy though. If you have common enemies they may give you right of way or share map. If you are hostile towards their allies they will embargo/declare war. If you have high enough popularity they might even accept peace to wars.
-
I have never witness Elite AI return to Peace status after having war status with me, it is even a rare thing when a player goes inactive and becomes AI that AI will then give peace status...
Normal behavior for elite AI is that you must destroy/kill the Elite AI.

What would sure be nice is a little more insight in how the "Global Popularity" dynamic actually works. I'm thinking about having a little test map for that purpose. So far I gather that most of the methods to improve your popularity are fairly experimental, there's little in terms of proven methods and I haven't been able to observe any measurable effects whenever I've tried something. From my experience, regular gameplay will consistently and predictably lead to the Global Pop going down thanks to warfare. Effects that cause it to drop are documented and easy to prove working. A player's options to combat this situation are neither of those, or can anyone name me one action that is both feasible and has been confirmed by developers and players to improve your global pop?
-
even AI change their settings from war do ceasefire and peace.. just takes time
how much time? all depends on things like your popularity (if you are in the top 5 list of most evil countries forget about it it might never happen)
-
Well, if the AI declares war on you they definitely won't accept peace because they declare war if your popularity is too low. But if you declare on them with high popularity they just might, it just takes time.
-
Global popularity, is something I have done lots of testing on... and there are some ways to manipulate it like > always declare war prior to attacking, 'surprise attacks' will harm your global popularity.
First thing you can do using diplomacy tab is to change diplomacy status to RoW or Share Maps status with all AI on the map . As sonja1976 said top 5 most dreaded nations is bad list to be on...so one manipulation is to declare negative status of 'trade embargo' on those nations and the list of top 5 is updated each 2 days, likewise 'most popular' list you can give positive status of RoW or Shared map status.
Another thing you can do to improve Global popularity is 100's of micro trades on stock market each day, buying or selling 1 unit at a time... or you can trade 5k silver for 5k silver with coalition mates, number of trades per day not the amount or the resource is what counts.
Global popularity, is relative to other countries in your map, elite players use it to gain RoW with AI nations early on in the map, GP is only important prior to declaring any wars, with first war it goes out the window. Since it is relative, there is no concrete % at which AI will trade embargo or declare war on you however, a good indicator is being one of 5 most dreaded in the newspaper.
