balance morale and war

  • I understand the mechanics. what i don't understand is how do I prevent poor morale and fight a necessary battle or war. revolts to random countries that have nothing to do with the conflict is what it is.

so strategic use of the economy. still revolt. balancing the economy makes war impossible if your out numbered. so my question is whats the give and take I haven't found it

To prevent poor morale in your provinces, you must maintain a positive income of resources. If, by the end of the day, you lack the necessary resources to cover upkeep costs, you will face penalties. These penalties may include infrastructure failures and a decline in population happiness, both of which negatively impact province morale from my understanding.

    1. If you are war with a neighboring nation, the bordering provinces with that neighboring nation will receive a morale penalty. So keep wars short or limited.

    2. Balanced Economy vs War economy -- too much focus on one makes the other weak. But I think if you are balancing your economy in general, you shouldn't have trouble going to war with other nations at all.

    3. Conquering too fast can cause expansion penalty (this is felt more in smaller maps), so make sure you plan ahead.
