An honest private man often grows cruel and abandoned when converted into an absolute prince.
Give a man power of doing what he pleases with impunity, you extinguish his fear.
Consequently overturn in him one of the great pillars of morality.
The madness. The treachery. The strong mixture of troubles.
It is a man's own mind, not his enemy or foe, that lures him to evil ways.
    More than a man.
    More than a king.
    More like God!

Dominion over nature, crosses the line into the relation to other men.
Proper appetite and desire becomes lust and passion.
The dominion that man is to have over nature, he also seeks to have over his brothers.
So crossing the line of his own proper dominion, and crossing on Gods...

Only God is to have dominion over all!

    Hey guys,

We have the following nations opened up:

The Spanish Republic [Spain / 21] -Requires a good and active player and a good roleplayer. The country is in somewhat good shape as previous players were mostly inactive with it. But it is not beyond salvation, it just takes time and it is almost realistic with all the civil wars going on in Spain during this timeline. Players will be given a couple of days of peace period to get the nation up and running.
    Ruler: Francisco Serrano
    Noble House: N/A
    Titles: President
    Government Type: Parliamentary Republic
Additional Information: The Spanish Republic was proclaimed as a result of Third Carlist War. It was supposed to be a short lived project, but in amidst of all the chaos, Francisco Serrano, Duke of La Torre and notable Spanish General, established himself as a dictator and autocrat, ruling over the Republic with iron fist and military. The Republic suffered huge colonial losses during the 19th century, but still owns parts of Africa and America, enough to keep it as a Secondary Power and a crucial regional actor. The situation is far from calm internally with the Royalists supporting Bourbon Restoration voicing for Serrano’s removal and the remnants of Carlists still scattered across the Republic.

CURRENT SITUATION: Spain has been played as being in Civil War with several factions being supported by other Great Powers. Unfortunately, the players for Spain have all gone inactive and not much has been done on that front. So you have choice to continue RPing this Civil War or to take your own route with the nation following this timeline.

The Ottoman Empire [The Ottoman Empire / 22] - Requires a great player and roleplayer as the Ottomans are almost the main villain in this RP. They are constantly looking to restore their empire to former glory to up the prestige of their nation in world. The country is well managed but the player went inactive.
    Ruler: Abdul Hamid II
    Noble House: Osman
    Titles: Sultan, Padishah
    Government Type: Absolute Monarchy
Additional Information: The Ottoman Empire was named Sick Man of Europe for a reason. Its once vast Empire was picked apart by major and minor powers of Europe. Balkan possessions were ripped apart by the Orthodox League, which now became the Tsardom of Bulgaria after Alexander’s unification and coronation. North African lands were torn apart piece by piece firstly by France then Britain and finally Italy. The Arab uprising took a toll on Ottoman lands in Arabia, even though the majority of rebellion was crushed. Hejaz Vilayet was created as a concession as well as Free City of Jerusalem, which was insisted by Great Powers of Europe in order to provide a safe haven for the Jews and Christians in the Empire. Hejaz is semi-autonomous Arab region, but under Ottoman suzerainty and dependent on Empire’s protection as well as financial aid. However, in order to weaken the Empire, the Great Powers of Europe are financing and protecting the Vilayet as well, leaving Ottomans shorthanded when it comes to making it part of their Empire again. Russia still remains one of the biggest rivals and enemies of the Ottomans and with the creation of Taurida Governorate there is no doubt the sparks will ignite once again. Great Power status was taken away from the Ottomans due to its enormous territory loss, but now that the majority of problems were “solved”, the Empire can perhaps consolidate and find strength to push once more for the throne of Europe.

CURRENT SITUATION: Ottomans are pretty powerful and have won war against Russians at begining of RP. They own a vassal (Golden Khanate, which is Caucasus in game and started as Taurida Governnorane, Russian vassal). They are aiming to expand to Balkans and Levant and Egypt, which brings them under scrutiny of Great Powers and in rivalry with Bulgarians and Russians especially. The player can take this route, but does not have to.

French Quebec [S. Canada / 6] - Needs a decent roleplayer but with good playing skills as this is a minor that is surrounded by British Canada. Currently independent but who knows for how long. Please pick this only if previous two Secondary (more important) are not picked.
    Ruler: Joseph-Adolphe Chapleau
    Noble House: N/A
    Titles: Governor
Government Type: National Assembly of Quebec
Additional Information: Quebec gained independence from the British during the American Civil War and British involvement in the matter. It seeks connection with France, but the French are not too keen on angering the British just yet. Economic support is sent on regular basis as there is majority of French population in Quebec. What will be the faith of this “short lived abomination” as the Brits call it, is left to be seen. Can be played if we gather enough players for the Great and Secondary Powers which are crucial for the roleplay. If left NPC, it will be used for roleplaying purposes and proxy wars.

    Thank you.

    Greetings,

Thank you for your interest. Since Ottomans are pretty important for the Roleplay, I will need you to provide me a sample article on Ottomans during this period. (You can actually create a story for that new ruler and send it to me as a sample article). You can post here or send it via PM. I will then send you game details. The roleplay is currently in slower pace since many players are busy with real life, but it will pick up in few days. Please read the timeline I posted, so you can see what happened so far.

Thank you and I am eagrly awaiting for your sample. One more thing is that you will need a Discord account as we have a Discord server where we post everything important, change of rules and so on. We also use it for IC events such as weddings or conferences on inportant matters.

    Cheers

    Ottoman Empire, 1885

Since 1826, when sultan Mahmud II dissolved Jannisaries, Ottoman empire implemented many reforms and new technologies to catch up with other great powers all over the world. French specialists helped ottomans to improve infrastructure and laws, but many traditional factions feel concerned about Ottoman Empire being under influence of foreigners. Sources of trade profits were passed on to the western powers, foreign military instructors lead drill of the ottoman armies and traditional system is no longer supported.

After victory over Russian Empire many noble families feel strong enough to be independent once again, but Sultan Abdul Hamid II disagree. Some of his closest consultants believe that Sultan wants the best for his country, but there are voices calling for change. More and more members of sultan's court think that the sultan is traitor and French government bribed him. Since many officers of Imperial army are still selected from young sons of important fathers, army is almost fully under control of discontented nobles.

    23rd of September, 1885
    22:20 pm
The Sultan meets his ministers. He is warned about dangerous situation and possibility of a revolution. Home secretary advises to suspend cooperation with France. Sultan refuses: "This is our only chance to make Ottoman Empire great again!".

    24th of September, 1885
    1:20 am
There is an unusual noise in the streets of Constantinople. City garrison was activated and armed.

    1:45 am

Soldiers in the streets, marching to the House of Commons. First trucks transporting arrested members of the Sultan's guard. Martial law is declared by local authorities. Armored vehicles are moving to Sultan's palace.

    2:30 am

First shots, first dead. Three young men disobeyed orders and tried to run from military patrol. One was killed on the run, the other were executed in front of their families begging for mercy.

    7:10 am

Soldiers patrol the streets of Constantinople. The people are informed about the situation via radio. A speech of the leader of the rebels is announced to 8:00 am.

    8:03 am

"My brothers, sisters, people of our great Empire. Your Sultan betrayed you. He accepted money and sold his country to the foreigners! This is unacceptable. We have decided to solve this crisis by force. Sultan Abdul Hamid II was found guilty by military court and executed. Our Empire must be cleansed from enemies and those who harmed our people. General Sadik was chosen to lead our country for now. We must prepare ourselves, invaders are everywhere waiting for our weakness. Be strong, be prepared!"

    9:30 am

General Sadik commanded the execution of almost all ministers. Mostly army generals were placed in their positions.

    11:20 am

Some people were hoping for the change of political system. Their hopes were thwarted. The only living son of the executed Sultan, Arslan the young, was declared to be the new Sultan. He was forced to sign death sentence for his father and immunity for all rebels. Then he was crowned as Sultan Arslan I. Martial law is still in effect, nine protesters were killed and more than fifty were harmed when soldiers broke down the demonstration summoned by liberals.

    14:30 pm
The new Sultan sent emissaries to all important governments in Europe with the offer of cooperation and peace.

Yeah, sorry about that but I waited for you as long as I could. And yes, we got some nations opened up. Most important are Bulgaria and Spain. So take a pick.

The roleplay is still going strong and we are currently on day 62. The current ingame year is winter 1890. Currently working on continuation of timeline from 1885. Available nations are as following:

The Spanish Republic [Spain / 21] - Requires a good and dedicated player. Spain has been neglected for almost all of roleplay and was/is in civil war, so player has to choose new type of government and leader. Civil War was between several factions, but it never finished since players of Spain always quit.

The Ottoman Empire [The Ottoman Empire / 21] - Ottomans are in good position and require a good and dedicated player. They were designed to be the main villains of this period so player needs to be ready to fight on multiple fronts for a while longer, before being accepted by Westerners as equal.

Greater Kievan State [Ukraine / 15] - This nation also went through Civil War and is unstable nation with lots of influence from foreign powers such as Russia, Austria and Germany. The player didn't last long and quit, so the nation is pretty much intact since beginning.

If you are interested in any of these nations, please let me know and I will have more details for you about nation you are applying for.

    Thank you.

I would like to apply to take over the Greater Kievan State, if someone could give me a run down of current events and political influences I have to address that would be fantastic!

Are you guys using a skype group or Discord? Just wondering how I'm going to keep in touch. Thanks!

    Here is my example article:

VICTORY FOR THE SEVENTH COALITION ---

Yea, the coneys are scared by the thud of hoofs,
And their white scuts flash at their vanishing heels,
    And swallows abandon the hamlet-roofs.

A great tragedy has befallen Paris this evening as a tale of glory, passion, empires and godless revolutions has finally suffered an inevitable ending. The prestige of the first French republic will be remembered poetically equivalent to that of the Iliad and odyssey. One man rose to power over a series of successful military campaigns and in the course of only six years fashioned an Empire unseen since the Roman conquests. At approximately nine o'clock last night, being the 18th of June 1815; Napoleon Bonaparte was defeated in an extraordinary show of military finesse by his rival Arthur Wesley the Duke of Wellington in a field near Waterloo. Upon Napoleon's return to power in March 1815, many states that had opposed him formed the Seventh Coalition and began to mobilize armies. Wellington and Blücher were cantoned close to the north-eastern border of France. Napoleon chose to attack them in the hope of destroying them before they could join in a coordinated invasion of France with other members of the coalition. After the Battle of Quatre Bras Wellington withdrew from Quatre Bras to Waterloo. After the simultaneous Battle of Ligny the Prussians withdrew parallel to Wellington, drawing a third part of Napoleon's forces away from Waterloo to the separate and simultaneous Battle of Wavre. Upon learning that the Prussian army was able to support him, Wellington decided to offer battle on the Mont-Saint-Jean escarpment, across the Brussels road. Here he withstood repeated attacks by the French throughout the afternoon, aided by the progressively arriving Prussians. In the evening Napoleon committed his last reserves to a desperate final attack, which was narrowly beaten back. With the Prussians breaking through on the French right flank Wellington's Anglo-allied army counter-attacked in the centre, and the French army was routed.
Following this decimation, William IV signed a peace agreement with the French republic senate, finally putting the seventh coalition to rest. Napoleon will be forced to abdicate within the following days and the French monarchy restored, mediated by an ever more present British influence. This is indeed a dark day for France, the end of a chapter and the beginning of a new one.
