I would like to verify that the winning criteria is the absolute score rather than the nearest to victory score (raw number versus percentage).

Edit: after another round of checks...

"Victory rewards are now based on each player’s or coalition’s relative progress towards their respective victory condition. This progress is reflected in a joint ranking table, accessible through the timer in the top right corner of the screen or from the new ranking indicator in the top bar."

What you descirbe and as you stated, relevant for time boxed rounds only. In case you have a round where that is/was not the case, could you tell me which map that was and/or provide a game ID so we can take a look at it?

    Attention, Generals!

Today’s release brings some handy new features to Supremacy 1: The Great War. We implemented a brand new map filter interface and added some more great filter options as well. The new filters make it easier to check the map for units of a specific type or even for those busy with a particular activity!

We also fixed several bugs in the game and made changes to improve server stability.

Please find a complete list of all changes and updates below:

    New feature:

    • We implemented a new map filter interface in the game.
      • The new map filter interface can be opened by clicking on the ‘hamburger’ button at the top right of your screen.
    • We implemented new map filters in the game.
      • The new map filters give you access to additional important information, which are not relevant at all times of a game round such as:
      • Search function
      • Zooming in and out
      • Toggling army labels of the different unit types
      • Activating and deactivating visuals for activities of units (e.g. attacking, moving, embarking).
    • We implemented a chat feature that allows you to invite a friend directly to a new game round.
      • When clicking on the name of a player above a chat message you will find the option to invite this player to your game.
      • The invited player will receive a whisper message from you including a link that they can click to join the game round.
    • We implemented chat notifications that announce when a new player joins a game round.
    • Players are now able to delete their own messages in chat within a 10 minute timeframe after posting a message.
      • When a player deletes a message in chat, the message is replaced with a notification that the message has been removed by the user.

    General:

    • We made several changes to improve server performance.
    • Chat tabs are now highlighted with more distinguishable icons to mark new messages.
    • Double resource icons in provinces on the map and in the user interface are now only displayed for provinces that produce significantly more resources than other provinces.

    Bug fixes:

    • We resolved an issue that displayed a confirmation pop up without text when ordering a non-damage dealing unit to attack. The pop up now informs the player that his action will not deal any damage to the enemy.
    • We fixed a bug that prevented the Cease Fire icon from being displayed in trade messages.
    • We resolved an issue that could occasionally cause the army bar overlapping the province bar.
    • We fixed an issue that caused morale penalties to be applied incorrectly when units were killed.
    • We resolved an issue that could display incorrect travel times for a unit if it was ordered to a location as part of a group of armies. The correct travel times are now displayed.
    • We fixed a bug that caused speed information of a unit to overlap with the user interface and to be inconsistent with other information regarding the unit.
    • We resolved an issue that caused the list of players in the game chat to be displayed incorrectly when the text exceeded one row.
    • We fixed a bug that could cause the settings menu to be blocked by an ad space when reducing the size of the browser window.
    • We removed languages that are currently not supported in Supremacy 1: The Great War from the language settings overview. We will add the languages again, as soon as the game is localized for these languages.

We hope the new map interface helps you to conquer the world and that you like all the other bug fixes and updates of this release. We wish you best of luck on the battlefield!

    Attention, Generals!

We would like to provide you with an update on yesterday’s server issues.

Last night between 8 PM CEST (6 PM UTC) and 11:30 PM CEST (9:30 PM UTC) players that logged in to Supremacy 1 experienced slow games, had difficulties using the shop or could not access their games properly.

The reasons we identified is the current spike in player activity in our games. We are living in special times after all and we are having a close eye on server performance, stability and reliability. After identifying the root cause of the problem, the team was able to fix the issue.

Servers are back to normal and players can access their games again!

We understand that this likely had an effect on current wars of some players so we decided to compensate all players who tried to play between 7PM CEST (5PM UTC) and 11:59 PM CEST (09:59 PM UTC) with 1,000 Gold on Monday. It will be added to the account of affected players automatically within 48 hours (starting on Monday).

We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused by this and wish you all the best on the battlefield.

    Attention, generals!

These are tough times and most of you are likely to be affected by what is currently dominating the news. Many of you are working from home, reducing their social contacts to a minimum or doing a heroic job in a hospital, a supermarket or any other organization helping all of us to keep on going. Whatever you are doing right now to help and protect yourself, your family, your friends and your community, thank you!

You are our heroes these days!

The Supremacy 1914 team, and all Bytro employees, have been working from home for more than a week now. Like many of you, we do this to protect all of our colleagues, our loved ones, and to do our part for society and help to flatten the curve.

We know that spending time at home, neither being able to meet with family and friends, go to the gym or engage in any other physical social activity right now, means that you spend more time on the phone and online. To communicate, to watch movies and to play Supremacy 1914.

To make social distancing times more bearable for you, we are gifting 14 days of High Command to each and every single Supremacy 1914 account!

With High Command you have access to advanced functionality and usability features in Supremacy 1914:

    • Join rounds with Gold features for free
    • Exclusive High Command badge

    Only in Desktop version:

In case you have a friend who hasn’t logged in for a while and you would like him or her to get free High Command as well, let them know. We will also reach out to those players via email.

Please note that assigning High Command to such a vast amount of accounts might take a day or two. You will be notified by an ingame message and push notification on mobile as soon as you receive your free days of High Command.

Please continue helping to flatten the curve. Wash your hands, reduce social contacts to a minimum, follow official updates, don’t spread rumors, and most importantly…

    Attention, generals!

Today we released a large amount of bug fixes, improvements, balancing adjustments and a new fire control mode - Offensive!

The new fire control mode “offensive” will make sure that your troops stay on high alert and attack any enemy within range. When you choose this setting for a unit, it will start bombarding enemy armies, even if the execution of other orders have to be deferred. The offensive fire mode will stop movement of your units to attack enemies, but they will not attack neutral units.

The new offensive fire mode is a great addition to every general’s tool box. While the existing aggressive setting allows you to setup naval blockades and preemptively protect your coastline against “soon to be enemies”, the offensive setting allows you to move your troops where they are needed, knowing that they will protect themselves in case an enemy comes in range, but will not trigger unwanted wars.

Please check the following list for a complete overview on what was released today:

    New Features:

    • We implemented the new “offensive” fire control setting.
    • The player name dropdown list in the in-game chat has a new option called “Reveal on map”. Clicking this new option closes the in-game chat, moves the screen to the capital of the player and selects it.
    • Game settings are now accessible from within game rounds.
      • The Cog icon in game now opens the in-game settings popup game
      • A new ‘hamburger menu’ icon is displayed beside the cog icon. The new icon opens the side-menu of in-game settings
    • We implemented a “new messages” chat divider. Messages below the divider are new unread messages in chat.

    Balancing Update:

    • Withdrawal:
      • We overall increased chances of units withdrawing from combat.
      • Damaged units that fight enemies are now less likely to withdraw from combat.
      • The health of a unit when entering combat has now a direct effect on its withdrawal chance.
    • Winning conditions:
      • We reduced the solo domination win condition to increase your chance to reach this goal within the time of a game round. A solo domination win is now achieved, when a player dominates ~25% of the map (previously 32%).
      • We reduced the team domination win condition to increase your chance to reach this goal within the time of a game round. A team domination win is now achieved, when a team dominates ~50% of the map (previously 64%).
    • Province morale and expansion:
      • We increased the expansion penalty to -1 per province instead of -0.725. The penalty starts when a nation has more than 20 provinces (no change to before the patch).
      • We increased the effectiveness of propaganda offices to balance the higher expansion penalty.
      • We increased the positive effect a province with more than 50% morale has on its neighbours.
      • We increased the negative effect a province with less than 50% morale has in its neighbours.
    • Cost balancing:
      • We reduced resource prices for propaganda offices, infrastructure, fortifications and railroads to address a lack of resources for buildings in the late game.
      • We increased money prices for all levels of railroads and fortifications to address an oversupply of money in the late game.
      • We increased money prices for the last three levels of propaganda offices and infrastructure significantly to address an oversupply of money in the late game.
      • We reduced the amount of time needed to complete research projects in order to allow you to complete more and/or higher level research projects before the game round ends.
      • We slightly increased money prices for research projects to balance the reduction of time needed to complete research projects.
    • General balancing updates:
      • We decreased the speed boost of roads from previously +150% to +100%.
      • We reduced the amount of levels for weapons labs to just 1. Units that previously required a higher level weapons lab now just require a level 1 weapons lab.

    Bug fixes:

    • We fixed a bug that sent players to the game manual, game rules and FAQs of Supremacy 1914 instead of Supremacy 1: The Great War, when clicking on the respective links in the newspaper.
    • We resolved an issue that caused conscripts being displayed bigger than other units on the map.
    • We replaced the flamethrower image in the army bar of infantry units. The correct image is now displayed there.
    • We fixed an issue that had an effect on the text size when switching between messages. Text got smaller and smaller and smaller and smaller and…
    • We resolved an issue that caused embargoed commodities being available on the stock market.

We hope you like all those new features and bug fixes. We wish you best of luck on the battlefield – make good use of the new “Offensive” fire control setting!

    Your Bytro team

My question is how can you afford to go so slowly, at least on the 84 player map. The game ends in two weeks. You need 1000 points for a solo victory. Also expansion penalty doesn't drop as you assimilate your new territories. So the only solution I'm finding is to spam Propaganda offices.

Don't get me wrong, I love the idea of a game only lasting 2 weeks, way less time investment/commitment, which suits my tastes better, but actually winning before time runs—the game seems balanced to make that difficult or impossible. I'll certainly try for it. We'll see what I can do in this game I'm playing now. :D

And Lastly, does moving your capital/headquarters make morale drop in your home provinces? Or would that only happen if the distance to the capital got to high?

Thank you for your feedback OuterRim. Please keep us posted on your experiences as it helps us tweaking the game. Winning a game round is supposed to be challenging, but not impossible. We are monitoring game rounds and result and have mentioned goal in mind and might change win conditions in case we notice that it is too hard.

In terms of moving your capital and the effect on the morale of key provinces. Morale in those provinces may decrease, depending on the distance to the new capital. On the other hand other provinces are likely to be much closer to the new capital than before and their morale will benefit from it.

There is no standard answer to this. It basically depends on your popularity. The higher your popularity the more likely it is for an AI nation to accept a cease fire.

    Attention, generals!

With today’s release we bring a big new feature to Supremacy 1: The Great War: The withdrawal of troops.

You will notice that some units now withdraw from combat when defeated. This new feature is chance-based. It means that not an entire army will withdraw, but only some units of that army. When a unit disengages combat by withdrawal it will automatically move to the next safe province. You will not be able to give orders to these units until they have reached their destination. Units that are withdrawing do not get blocked by other units and cannot be seen by the enemy while traveling.

    The new withdrawal feature:

    • With this feature individual units in active combat have a chance to withdraw instead of dying when defeated in combat.
    • Higher level units are able to suppress the chance of lower level units to retreat.
    • When an army was successful in combat, any unit that would have retreated will remain part of the army instead.
    • In case an army gets defeated in combat, any units that were labeled as retreated during the encounter will automatically move to a safe location.
    • Units have different chances of retreating, and a few have no chance at all.
    • When an army withdraws it will not accept orders from the player until it has reached its destination.
    • Withdrawing armies pass through all blocking units and cannot be seen by neutral or enemy players.

We hope you like the new withdrawal feature!
