There should have been some consideration for handicapped accessibility.
The new UI has razor-thin scroll bars which are impossible for a person like myself to navigate. That is a physical problem, and it's enough to end my ability to play.
Then there are visual problems, including: The province borders are almost invisible, the nation colors are nearly all the same, and the 3d unit icons are confusing when near one another.
I hope the devs will recognize that they need to keep the handicapped in mind when making design upgrades.
